Planting trees is a passion that runs deep at Lapatutu Writing Creations. There is something truly fascinating about putting a seedling into the ground today that will benefit the environment for decades to come. To us, nothing speaks of the "mystery of legacy" quite like a small tree becoming a forest giant.
We are deeply concerned about the environment we inhabit. At Lapatutu Writing Creations, we recognize that as an agency thriving in the world of paper and ink, our work relies on the very earth we describe.
Our pledge is to integrate tree planting into the very DNA of Lapatutu Writing Creations, ensuring that our annual contribution to Uganda’s canopy is as enduring as the stories we write. We believe that true legacy is not just what we leave on the paper, but the world we leave behind for the next generation of storytellers.
By putting a seedling in the ground today, we are ensuring that the builders of tomorrow have a thriving earth to write about.
As February came to a close, we took this mission to the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe through our CSR arm, Ekigambo Blog. At UWEC, anyone can become a champion of the environment by purchasing and planting seedlings. It is the perfect way to enjoy the amazing animals while actively contributing to the habitat they call home.
Our visit was made even more impactful through an educative session with Ms. Atukwase Ritah Bagaba, a passionate Botanist at the Uganda Wildlife Authority. With a Master’s in Botany, Ritah explained that true sustainability isn't just about planting trees; it’s about planting the right trees.
She walked us through the vital importance of prioritizing indigenous trees over invasive ones, while factoring in the deep medicinal value that these plants bring to the ecosystem.
We were privileged to plant several special species that day. Pictured above is the Warburgia ugandensis (locally known as Mukuzza nnume). This remarkable indigenous tree was a key active component in the groundbreaking Covidex, developed by Professor Ogwang.
We are humbled to add this small footprint to the earth. Join us in this pledge. If you’ve ever wanted to be a champion for the environment, we highly recommend a visit to Ms. Ritah and the team at UWEC to start your own planting journey.
