Growth is always a process of intentional construction. During the foundational days of Ekigambo Blog, our Founder had the distinct honor of paying a courtesy visit to Greenhill Academy, Kibuli, to meet with the Rector, Mrs. Joy Veronica Maraka.
At that stage in the journey, the project was purely focused on the digital landscape of storytelling, yet the mission was already rooted in seeking wisdom from the pillars of Ugandan education.
The visit coincided with an exciting chapter for the school: a major building project was underway. As the Founder and the Rector watched the progress of the new structures, the conversation turned to what they called the "beauty of building."
They discussed how the principles remained the same, whether one was laying bricks for a new hall or laying the digital foundation for a child’s literacy:
· Vision: The finished work had to be seen before the first step was taken.
· Patience: Great structures, and great readers, were built one layer at a time.
· Legacy: What was built that day had to be strong enough to house the dreams of the next generation.
Mrs. Maraka’s insights as an educator and leader resonated deeply with the early vision of Ekigambo Blog. At the time, every digital story published was viewed as a "brick" in the intellectual architecture of its young readers.
The physical expansion of Greenhill Academy served as a powerful metaphor for the blog’s aspirations. Even then, before the evolution into what is now Lapatutu Writing Creations, the mission was clear: to ensure that young learners had the local, inspiring stories they needed to thrive within the walls of such great institutions.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Joy Veronica Maraka for her warm reception and the wisdom she shared during those early days.
It was through foundational meetings like this that the "Ekigambo" spark began its journey toward becoming a writing legacy.
